Welcome to the new school year in Rabbit's Class!
Welcome to the beginning of your child’s school journey!
This half term will begin with the first couple of weeks settling the children into school, establishing what they can and can’t do and getting them used to school routines. A typical day is where the children have opportunities for self-initiated learning (sometimes enhanced by an adult), whole class sessions and small group adult led activities.
We will be focusing on:
- numbers to 10, counting, recognising and ordering
- length and height, measuring and comparing
- a range of rhymes and poetry
- beginning to learn phonics using Jolly Phonics.
Alongside these activities our learning challenge will be ‘Who am I?’ where we will discuss things such as eyes, hair, families and where we live; explore our senses and talk about our favourite food and toys, something I know the children will enjoy talking about. This also helps us to get to know the children well.
The start of school is a very exciting time but I appreciate it can also be an anxious time for some children and parents. Please be assured that both Mrs Marshall and I will take great care of the children and that you can speak to us about any concerns you have either in person or via the Dojo messaging system.
