This last half term of the school year promises to be a busy and exciting one.
Our learning challenge question this half term is cross-curricular, mixing Science, English and Maths – ‘What makes a Winner?’
In Science, we will be studying the Human body, establishing what the circulatory and digestive systems do; and how and what we need to do to keep our bodies healthy. We will be creating our own science investigations and reporting on our findings.
In English, we will be creating Non-chronological reports and Explanation texts, around the World Cup 2018. Our children will thoroughly research this event, looking at the history, the rules and format, and other interesting facts. Individual decisions will be made (and encouraged) about the choice of presentation and fact inclusion, having studied similar text types during Guided Reading activities.
In Maths, each pupil must make a prediction of the World Cup winner based on statistics given; and additional activities will be based upon a ‘World Cup Top Trumps’ game. We will also spend time ‘playing with numbers’ – strengthening reasoning skills.
We are all very excited for our Summer trip – we head to London on the train/Underground to visit the ‘Wonder lab’ at the Science Museum, watch a performance of ‘The School of Rock’; and then finally, experience ‘The London Eye’.
The school production this year is ‘Porridge’. Our talented children never cease to amaze and this play promises to be entertaining: expect to laugh, cry and clap like you’ve never done before.
We will be saying ‘Goodbye’ to some members of our class at the end of this half term. May you accomplish all that you set out to achieve. You are all creative, inspiring and brilliant! We will miss you but look forward to hearing of your successes.
Remember: Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan!
